Sergei Bobrovsky practices alone at MedStar Capitals Iceplex, gets visit from BFF Dmitry Orlov

Sergei Bobrovsky generated national headlines earlier in the week when he was psuedo-suspended from the Columbus Blue Jackets for failing to meet culture “expectations and values.” On Friday, Bobrovsky reportedly resolved the incident after addressing the players during a morning meeting. He later spoke to the media about what happened.

Bobrovsky joined the team on its flight to Washington Friday and Saturday he took the MedStar Capitals Iceplex ice to practice… by himself.

According to Gene Wu, Bobrovsky did drills and took shots from a Blue Jackets coach.

That is until there was a loud yell from the locker room area. Dmitry Orlov, a close friend of Bobrovsky’s, emerged to say hi and get caught up.

Bobrovsky talked to Orlov until the ice resurfacer driver forced him off. The former Vezina Trophy winner then posed for an adorable photo with Gene’s son Marcus.

Orlov and Bobrovsky go way back. The two best friends grew up in the same hometown of Novokuznetsk, Russia and were both teammates on Metallurg Novokuznetsk. During summers back home, they participate together in a hockey camp together and have vacationed before – home and abroad. They even have shot a commercial together while working at a Gazprom gas station.
