In the Capitals’ season-opening game against the Boston Bruins, noted pest Brad Marchand roped Lars Eller into his first career fight because he was taunting the Bruins bench.
“He took an angle in front of our bench and celebrated in a 7-0 game,” Marchand said of his rationale. “So I just let him know.”
After their morning skate in Boston, Eller did not want to speak about the topic.
“I don’t have any comments about that,” Eller said according to the Washington Post’s Isabelle Khurshudyan.
Eller did, however, remind reporters that he has a memory.
While he would not speak specifically on Marchand, Eller did say this about why some things can linger in hockey: "I think it's just guys remember. Just memory. I think people can remember a few months back." https://t.co/U6VSEhnKd5

To refresh everyone’s memory, Marchand instigated the fight, bloodying Eller.
Marchand has been mum with the Boston media on whether or not he is expecting a retribution bout, but here’s hoping that should one ensue, it doesn’t involve any licking.
