Tom Wilson yells at Blues fan from penalty box after threat to family

Tom Wilson has become one of the most polarizing players in the NHL after being suspended four times over the last two seasons.

Thursday, at Enterprise Center, one Blues fan decided to chirp Wilson in the penalty box after the Caps enforcer fought Robert Bortuzzo.

“The guy was yelling the standard ‘you’re the dirtiest player in the league’ stuff. Then went ‘I’m going after your family’ at least once,” RMNB’s Brennin Weiswerda, who was sitting behind the Capitals’ penalty box, said. “Next time Wilson was in the box, he yelled a few things about hoping Wilson gets paralyzed.”

St. Louis Game Time reporter Jeff Jones added that the fan called Wilson “a piece of garbage” and the “biggest piece of sh*t in the NHL” while giving Wilson the middle finger with both of his hands. Jeff tells RMNB he also heard the fan tell Wilson, “I hope you enjoy getting your neck broken.”

According to Jones, Wilson stood up in the penalty box and chirped back to the fan.

Another person familiar with the interaction tells RMNB that Wilson told the fan not to curse in front of the children sitting near the penalty box.

The fan was not ejected from the game.
