The Washington Capitals extended their winning streak to seven games Saturday night as they took down their fellow Metro Division member, the New Jersey Devils. We got a hat trick, an ejection, another milestone from Ovi, and a 6-3 victory.
The Devils out-shot the Caps 36 to 31 and out-attempted them at five-on-five 43 to 36.

- Nicklas Backstrom recorded another ho-hum four point performance in which he picked up his second career regular season hat trick. Nicky is currently on pace to have the best offensive season of his career, besting his 101 point effort in the 2009-10 campaign.
- Did Tom Wilson score again? Yep. The storyline from this game will be plagued by more discussion about his hit on Brett Seney, but before that even occurred, Wilson tallied his seventh goal in only nine games this season. He’s riding a five game goal scoring streak and has been pivotal to the Caps successful penalty kill of late. It’s all up to the head NHL DoPS honchos now, I personally think he should have his match penalty rescinded.
- Alex Ovechkin scored the 626th goal of his NHL career, giving him sole possession of 15th all time in that category. Ovi passed up Jarome Iginla and Joe Sakic with the marker and next up is Dave Andreychuk at 640.

- Michal Kempny was the Caps best defenseman once again during this winning streak. Kemper is playing at the top of his game right now and adding offense to boot as he recorded two assists last night.
