Braden Holtby returns to practice, may play against Canadiens Monday

The Capitals’ number one goalie, Braden Holtby, is nearing his return from injury. Holtby has been out for two games with an undisclosed upper-body injury.

Holtby hit the ice for full practice with the team Sunday morning at the Bell Centre. Head coach Todd Reirden said that Holtby may start against the Canadiens Monday night.

Holtby said that he feels ready, but is waiting for doctors to clear him. Reirden says it depends on how Holtby feels after practice.

Ilya Samsonov, who was called up from the Bears to back up Pheonix Copley, remains with the team for now.

Copley has done an admirable job in net. He started three games in four nights, winning two of them and allowing only six goals against.

TJ Oshie and Evgeny Kuznetsov are still out of the lineup with upper body injuries.
