Josh Morrissey will have a hearing with NHL Player Safety over his throw down of TJ Oshie

In the waning minutes of Wednesday nights bout with the Winnipeg Jets, defenseman Josh Morrissey did his best Cody Rhodes impression when he performed a Side Russian Legsweep on TJ Oshie.

While news has yet to come out on Oshie’s condition after the maneuver, Morrissey will meet with NHL Player Safety to determine if supplemental punishment is required. There was no penalty called on the play.

Oshie, who has a history of concussions, landed on his head and neck.

The throw down was similar to Mike Matheson’s move on Vancouver Canucks rookie forward Elias Petterson in mid-October.

Matheson was suspended two games by NHL Player Safety after his hearing.
