Suspended Tom Wilson called TJ Oshie an ‘absolute gamer’ after game-winning goal against Penguins

Tom Wilson may be suspended, but he made his presence known on Twitter Wednesday after the Capitals’ 2-1 victory over the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Wilson praised TJ Oshie for being an “absolute gamer.” Oshie left the Penguins game twice for two separate head injuries before returning late in the third period and scoring the game-winning goal with 1:14 remaining.

During his time on Twitter, Wilson also helped promote the Capitals 50/50 raffle, where the proceeds would benefit the Jewish Federation of Greater Pittsburgh. The Capitals raised over $19k for victims’ families of the mass shooting at Tree of Life Synagogue.

Wilson may not have played since September 30, but he’s still not far from Capitals fans’ hearts. One person sitting in the lower bowl brought a Free Willy sign to the game which included Wilson the Volleyball from Castaway.

Wilson is scheduled to return November 21 against the Chicago Blackhawks unless an independent arbitrator reduced his suspension.
