Ilya Samsonov has a lower-body injury, is considered day-to-day

The injury bug has bit the Hershey Bears bad. After beginning their season with the worst record in the Bears 81-year history, the Bears now have eight injured players.

Ilya Samsonov, who was sharing starting goaltender duties with Vitek Vanecek, sustained an injury this morning. He is considered day-to-day and will be re-evaluated before the team leaves on a trip to Charlotte tomorrow.

To fill the gap on the bench tonight in Wilkes-Barre, PA, the Bears have signed a local goaltender to an amateur tryout. Padraig Carey was a goaltender at Indiana University of Pennsylvania from 2009-2013 averaging a .845 save percentage his four years.

Samsonov joins fellow Russian Sergei Shumakov, who shared a photo of his wrist in a brace this morning on Instagram.

Other injured Bears include forwards Riley Barber, Juuso Ikonen, Mason Mitchell, and Mathias Bau and defensemen Kris Bindulis and Colby Williams.
