Opening night for Braden Holtby was tremendous as he secured his first regular-season shutout since the 2016-17 season.
But that wasn’t all.
Holtby also snagged an apple on Evgeny Kuznetsov’s second goal of the game. The second Kuznetsov goal was the flukey one that ended Tuukka Rask’s night.
Kuzy’s second, a Holts goalie assist and a B’s call to the bullpen. It’s 5-0, Washington. #ALLCAPS #CapsBannerNight pic.twitter.com/iyCOdgGeo9

Holtby received the secondary assist after settling the puck down for John Carlson behind the net.
Like his shutout, Holtby’s assist is his first in a while. His last point came in the 2015-16 season.
Now Holtby has more points than the following Capitals: Madison Bowey, Jakub Vrana, Andre Burakovsky, Brett Connolly, Christian Djoos, and Dmitry Orlov.
And oh yeah, every player on the Boston Bruins.
What a time to be alive.
