Columbus Blue Jackets throw shade at Tom Wilson day after bad hit

Since the beginning of September, the Columbus Blue Jackets Instagram account has been counting down the days until the start of their new season. Matching each countdown day with a player’s jersey, the Blue Jackets used Monday’s player, Seth Jones, to throw shade at Capitals forward Tom Wilson.

The Caps’ Metropolitan Division rival usually chooses a clip of a Blue Jackets’ player scoring or celebrating a goal with his teammates. Instead, they chose a clip of Jones rocking Tom Wilson with a big hit.

The highlight comes from a game at Capital One Arena on December 2, 2017, after Wilson laid out Jones earlier in the period. The Capitals won the game 4-3.

The savage video choice comes on the heels of Wilson being offered an in-person hearing for his illegal check to the head on St. Louis Blues Oskar Sundqvist.

Wilson will likely be suspended six games or more by the NHL’s Department of Player Safety in the coming days.
