A stunned Alex Ovechkin hugged Ted Leonsis after seeing his championship ring for the first time

The Washington Capitals gave away championship rings to the players and staff members on Monday during a private party. Each player received a box from Jostens with their name on it and then a countdown was initiated by John Walton, who was emceeing the event.

When Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin opened his box, he was speechless.

Stunned. And speechless.

Capitals players and their wives could be heard oooh’ing and ahhh’ing as they opened their ring boxes. Ovechkin just looked at his new bling and said, “Wow.”

He then tried it on and admired all of the detail.

The rings feature 252 diamonds, 35 rubies, and a sapphire.

When Ted Leonsis came over to ask Ovechkin what he thought, the Russian machine bear-hugged the owner.

“It’s unbelievable,” he said.
