Tom Wilson’s dream day in DC includes taking a foster puppy on a walk

Tom Wilson spoke with the Washington Post recently as part of their DC Dream Day series.

The top line winger’s ideal day in the District included some time with a potential foster puppy.

“My girlfriend and I have fostered a good amount of puppies, working with the Homeward Trails shelter,” Wilson said. “[S]o maybe if we have a puppy we’d walk it around and have fun with that.”

Wilson’s girlfriend, Taylor Pischke, is a professional beach volleyball player for Team Canada who has also volunteered with the Winnipeg Humane Society. The two athletes fostered their first puppy together in November of 2017.

Tulip was adopted within a week.

Tom spoke about the experience of fostering Tulip and her brother, Oshie, while holding two other puppies to keep them warm.

Tom Wilson may, in fact, BE a puppy.

Wilson is known for his high-octane actions on the ice, but off the ice, it’s a different story. “If I’m in Arlington, I try to eat at home as much as possible,” Wilson said. “I’m pretty boring these days — in my single days I was out a lot more!”

He did recommend the Peacock Cafe in Georgetown for brunch. Bonus: it’s pet-friendly.
