NHL.com asked players which team other than their own will win the Stanley Cup next season. Evgeny Kuznetsov picked the Capitals.

Evgeny Kuznetsov marches, or I guess, flaps to his own beat. We got more evidence of that from an interview at NHL Media Day.

According to Nicholas Cotsonika, NHL.com asked the star players in attendance to name their Stanley Cup favorite for next season with the caveat that they could not pick their own team.

Kuznetsov was not having any of this.

“I think we’re going to win,” Kuznetsov said to Cotsonika smiling.

When pressed to name another team, Kuzy replied, “Nobody.”

Kuznetsov was reportedly the only player not to follow directions on this short survey.

TJ Oshie, who was also in Chicago to represent the Caps, had the same confident idea, but eventually relented and picked Winnipeg.

“It’s got to be the Washington Capitals,” Oshie said before naming the Jets. “I mean, we’ve got our whole team back almost.”

RMNB is not associated with the Washington Capitals; Monumental Sports, the NHLPA, the NHL, or its properties. Not even a little bit.
