Sergei Shumakov puts on Capitals jersey for the first time

Sergei Shumakov, the Capitals newest Russian winger, attended a KHL game and shootout challenge on Sunday, then went to a club where he put on a Capitals jersey for the first time. Shumakov had good reason to celebrate, having just signed a one-year deal with the Capitals on Saturday.

Shumakov rocked the red in style, reclining on an ornate chair in front of a bathtub full of champagne bottles.

Кто-то с Челметом подписал 😂

Shumakov’s jersey featured the Caps’ Stanley Cup champions logo.

The penalty shootout challenge was put on by Columbus Blue Jackets goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky and actor Stanislav Yarushin, and followed the game between Traktor Chelyabinsk and CSKA Moscow, Shumakov’s former team.

Shumakov took a picture with Bobrovsky and youtube personality Elizaveta Furdilova, then captioned the group photo on Instagram with “best goalkeeper.” (Nobody tell Holtby.)

best goalkeeper👌🏻
