Jay Beagle brought the Stanley Cup to Alberta Children’s Hospital and it was the sweetest thing ever

Jay Beagle celebrated his day with the Stanley Cup in typical Beagle fashion: not a lot of fanfare, but plenty of heartwarming, down-to-Earth moments.

The Calgary native, one of the longest-tenured Capitals on the championship winning team, brought the Cup to the Alberta Children’s Hospital.

One mother shared her story of how Beagle reached out to her and her daughter, one of many examples of Jay Beagle’s kindness and generosity.

Courtney Nelson was five minutes away from tears bringing her daughter to the hospital. But unlike most days, she felt more relaxed and positive. Nelson thinks that positive energy became good karma when she and her daughter entered the building. “They were just packing up so we missed the photo session. However, out of everyone there, #jaybeagle pointed my girl out and noticed she never got a picture. So they pulled us into the elevator with them for us to get our own photo session downstairs away from the crowds,” Nelson said in her Instagram post.

Would you believe me if I told you that less than 5 minutes before this picture was taken, I was on the verge of tears?? You see, going to the children’s hospital with my little girl terrifies me. I know all too well how it feels to get bad news there and walk out with a cloud over my head. I know all too well how life can change in a literal SECOND and this place is usually where that happens. So even though it is just a routine check up, my nerves somehow still always try to get the best of me. Today was different , I was calmer somehow, I still had that worry in the back of my mind but I was able to quiet it. I felt like crying, and almost did in the car before I went in. But like I always do (and every mom with a sick child does) I pulled myself together and kept moving. I STAYED POSITIVE something that I struggled so so hard with before. As we walked in, low and behold, the Stanley cup was there. They were just packing up so we missed the photo session. However, out of everyone there, #jaybeagle pointed my girl out and noticed she never got a picture. So they pulled us into the elevator with them for us to get our own photo session downstairs away from the crowds. I know everyone has their different opnions on energy’s and what we attract. I truly believe that we attract what we feel. If you feel good, you attract good. And even though I still felt worried and scared, I was able to stay positive and that energy attracted exactly what we needed to get through that appointment today!! We also got a killer parking spot and a quick appointment (which rarely happens with this kind of appointment). I feel that I am finally starting to get my energy in the right spot, one that attracts more good than bad. Today, today I saw it first hand. Always always always find the positive so that you attract it!! It’s so amazing when you get to that point!! Do you believe in energies and the law of attraction?? #stanleycup #mrstanley #nhl #albertachildrenshosptial #heartwarrior #nicumom #lawofattraction #positiveenergy #lovelife

After the hospital visit was over, Beagle and the Cup traveled in style to their next destination.

In the fall, the forward will be starting a four-year, $12 million contract with the Canucks.

Beagle played for the Caps for parts of three seasons, flip-flopping between Washington and Hershey from 2009-2011 before he became a mainstay on the Capitals fourth line for seven seasons. With the Stanley Cup win, Beagle is the only player to have won the Kelly Cup (ECHL), the Calder Cup (AHL), and the Stanley Cup (NHL).
