Friday, Nicklas Backstrom received the Stanley Cup from teammate Andre Burakovsky at his Gavle home overlooking the Baltic Sea. Rookie defenseman Christian Djoos joined the veteran center at his welcome party for the championship trophy.
Backstrom and Djoos, both former members of the SHL team Brynäs IF, first participated in a ceremony at Gavlerinken Arena. Because it was Djoos’ day with the Stanley Cup, he walked the trophy into the arena.
The two teammates took photos together in the locker room.
Backstrom and Djoos were presented with the “Well done for Gavle!” award before taking photos with nearly 2,000 fans.
After the event ended, Djoos received private time with Stanley, bringing the Cup to his childhood home.
There, Djoos took a photo with his father Pär Djoos, who played 82 games in the NHL with the Detroit Red Wings and New York Rangers.

Djoos also posed with his beautiful girlfriend Ebba Ostlund.

Christian also thanked first responders by taking a photo with local Gavle firefighters.
And then the ridiculousness began. Djoos received a custom made DJ OOS shirt from his friends.
The Cup-winning defenseman took a photo with a cute dog.
Later, a seven-foot Swedish referee did a Cup Stand with an assist from DJ OOS.
