In July, local artist Taylor Kampa posted a series of time-lapse videos to her Instagram, painting several players from the Capitals’ Stanley Cup winning team. The series of six works were requested by Circa Bistro, a restaurant located near Capital One Arena, as part of a 15-painting project.
From the Capitals, Kampa painted captain Alex Ovechkin, as well as Nicklas Backstrom, Tom Wilson, John Carlson, TJ Oshie, and goaltender Braden Holtby.
In fact, Wilson, who recently signed a contract to stay in DC for the next six years, brought the paintings to fans’ attention when he liked the portrait that Kampa made of him, and also retweeted it on his Twitter account.
You can watch the incredible time-lapse videos from Kampa’s Instagram below. According to Kampa, each painting took approximately six hours to do and the videos were sped up so they were between 30 to 60 seconds long.

With the portraits all complete, Kampa shared a couple of videos to her Instagram stories getting them ready to deliver to Circa Bistro.
Kampa thanked Capitals fans for their support on all of the timelapse videos, a posted one final photograph of the collection, featuring her two adorable dogs in Caps jerseys.
The dogs, however, weren’t quite as thrilled with the results as Kampa was.
