Alex Ovechkin meets UFC fighter Conor McGregor at World Cup Final

Alex Ovechkin didn’t just meet famous footballers at the World Cup Final, Sunday.

He also ran into former UFC featherweight and lightweight champion Conor McGregor.

The two athletes put up their dukes in the photo.

The UFC superstar has gone into a tailspin since making around a $100 million in a boxing match against Floyd Mayweather. McGregor and his posse stormed a UFC 223 press conference in April and threw a guardrail at a bus, injuring a fighter on board. McGregor is due in a New York courtroom on July 26 for starting the brawl. McGregor was charged with assault and criminal mischief, among other related charges.

UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov was also at the game. If Nurmagomedov ever fought McGregor, the fight would the biggest the UFC could offer.

Ovechkin met Nurmagomedov in March after a San Jose Sharks game. He gave the fighter a customized jersey.
