Wednesday, the trailer for the Capitals championship video produced by NHL Original Productions and Cinedigm was put up on iTunes (thanks for the heads up, Reader Dave!). After we reached out to a contact at Cinedigm, the trailer was made live on YouTube.
Here’s a first look.
Trailer
The video features several Caps players and commentators, including Alex Ovechkin, Nicklas Backstrom, and Joe Beninati, weaving together a story of what the championship win meant for this area. It’s epic.
Craig Laughlin: “This is the power city of the world. They have a fan base that’s been here since 1974 and they’ve endured.”
Devante Smith-Pelly: “We just look at how long it’s been and how many good teams there’s been and heartbreak and tough losses”
Joe Beninati: “When I see 12,000 people watching television inside Capital One Arena. Fans celebrating on F Street. I watched the community together and I can’t help but tear up about it.”
John Carlson: “They’ve been waiting for this moment a long time too and we’re really happy to celebrate this thing together.”
Nicklas Backstrom: “It’s really hard to describe the feeling. Relief, happiness. The greatest feeling ever.”
Alex Ovechkin: “We’re gonna remember this whole life. It’s why you wanna share this moment with your teammates, your family, your fans. That’s why you play hockey: for this moment.”
Here are a few lovely GIFs from the trailer.
The video provides an all-access look behind the glass, on the bench, and into the locker room as the Capitals embarked on their unforgettable journey to become Stanley Cup champions. You can pre-order the movie on Fanatics.com as a Blu-Ray or DVD now. You can view all available Caps Stanley Cup championship merch here.
