Jonathan Marchessault trolls Alex Ovechkin with ‘hot lap’ before Game Three

After the success Alex Ovechkin, and the rest of the Caps squad, has been having with the hot lap tradition, Vegas’ Jonathan Marchessault began to think maybe it might bring him some luck too.

Marchessault was seen taking his own version of the “hot lap” at Capital One Arena earlier today.

Here’s Marchessault doin’ his best Ovechkin impression on Saturday.

After seeing Ovechkin doing them during the Tampa Bay Lightning series, Marchessault told reporters that he’s been taking a hot lap since Game Two in the Winnipeg Jets series. The Golden Knights haven’t lost a road game since.

Judging by the slowness of his lap, the reaction of the the reporters and his teammates, and taking a knee at the end, there is a strong possibility Marchessault is just kidding.

But, I guess the lap was a little lost on other teammates, including former Capital Nate Schmidt.
