Since November 2016, Capitals forward TJ Oshie and 10-year-old Addy Flint have been cultivating an adorable friendship. After meeting through the Make-A-Wish Foundation as part of Hockey Fights Cancer Night, the two became fast friends and have met numerous times over the last two years.
On Wednesday, Addy took to NBCSN to tell the world how much she wants to see her favorite player and close friend win the Stanley Cup.
“I really really really want to see TJ and the Capitals win the Stanley Cup. Like, a lot,” told a smiling Addy to NBCSN.
Addy’s wish to see Oshie win the Cup with the Caps isn’t just because she’s one of his biggest fans. Throughout their meetings, Oshie has helped teach Addy how to skate and scored a goal for her. On her part, Addy has made cards and gifts for Oshie’s oldest daughter, Lyla, and interviewed him with RMNB during a Make-A-Wish charity event.
“He’s not just a hockey player, he’s more than that. He’s more of like a friend,” said Addy.
The Wish Kid and pop star was diagnosed with stage IV metastatic kidney cancer at only four years old. She relapsed in June 2017 and once again had to undergo intense treatment to battle the tumor growing on her kidney.
“It means a lot to me that [TJ] actually cares about what it’s like to be in the hospital,” Addy said of Oshie.

The pair most recently met when Addy joined thousands of fans at the Kettler Capitals Iceplex to send the Caps off to Las Vegas. As Oshie was preparing to leave Kettler, he spotted his biggest fan in the crowd and immediately changed course to rush over and give her a hug.
While the Caps’ Stanley Cup journey is already plenty special, Addy’s encouragement is sure to make it even more meaningful for Oshie.
“It’s humbling, but when you sit back and see a relationship like that build and see her love for the game and love for the Caps, it does make what seems like just a game to us extra special,” he said.
