With the Caps trailing 1-0 after James Neal’s goal, the Caps fought for possession near center ice. Kuznetsov passed the puck up just before Vegas defenseman Brayden McNabb finished his check.

McNabb surges upwards as he lands the hit. His elbow seems to make contact with Kuznetsov’s face, but the damage is lower. McNabb’s back and rear-end make contact with Kuznetsov’s left arm.

There was no penalty on the play. Kuznetsov did not return before intermission.

Kuznetsov has 11 goals and 14 assists in these playoffs.

We will update this story as we learn more.

Update, 9:27 PM: Kuznetsov’s status is questionable.
