DC sports history altered course on Monday night, when the Capitals defeated their decades-long rival, the Pittsburgh Penguins, in a 2-1 Game Six victory. The win saw them advance to the Eastern Conference Finals for the first time in 20 years. Needless to say, the historic win has been the go-to topic of conversation for Capitals fans the world over.
On Tuesday, the Capitals even got a shoutout from comedian Seth Meyers on his show, Late Night with Seth Meyers.

“Special congrats to our bassist, Syd Butler, over there,” Meyers said. “He is a Washington Capitals fan and they won last night. In the time I’ve known Syd, nothing good has happened for the Capitals. And I know there’s this philosophy out there that nothing nice should happen for the bassist, but I’m really, really glad something nice happened for Syd.”
Let’s just hope that nice things keep happening for this Syd. And the Capitals.
