TJ Oshie buries rebound on power play causing Alex Ovechkin to leap in celebration

TJ Oshie just scored his second goal of the Caps-Blue Jackets first-round series.

On the power play, Oshie deposited an Alex Ovechkin rebound past Sergei Bobrovsky to give the Caps THE ABSOLUTE BEST LEAD IN HOCKEY.

The play was started by John Carlson with a fantastic keep at the blue line. Cam Atkinson tried to lob the puck past Carly, but the Caps defenseman expertly used his stick to make the play.

After the Caps passed the puck around the perimeter, Carlson fired a shot from the point. Ovechkin gathered the first rebound and almost scored.

The puck bounced to the slot and Oshie buried the second rebound into the yawning net.

The goal caused Ovechkin to leap into the air three separate times to celebrate.

John Carlson tallied a secondary assist on the goal. He now has eight points in four postseason games.

Now I know what you’re thinking: The Capitals lost both Games One and Two after taking a 2-0 lead. But maybe tonight will be different.

I hope.

Friday update: NHL scoring officials have given Carlson’s assist to Evgeny Kuznetsov.

Also, here’s a better photo of Ovi jumping into Oshie’s arms.
