Lars Eller’s double overtime goal gets Caps back into first round series

Haters will call it an ugly goal. Caps fans think it’s the most beautiful thing we’ve seen in months.

Nine minutes into the fifth period of Game Three, Lars Eller crashed the net to give Washington sudden victory.

Look at this mess. Brett Connolly puts the puck towards the net as his flanks, Devante Smith-Pelly and Lars Eller, rush towards Sergei Bobrovski. Columbus defender Zach Werenski marks Eller, adding to the chaos.

And then, the twist: a fortunate bounce, for once, puts the puck on Eller’s stick. He does not waste the opportunity.

Lars has scored six playoff goals before Tuesday night. This one, the seventh, is the best of them of all.
