With the score tied at zero early in the second period, the Caps stormed the Columbus zone. Holding the puck along the half wall, Alex Ovechkin made a deft pass to Matt Niskanen at the point. Niskanen released a beautiful shot, made even more beautiful by Wilson’s presence in front of the net.
Wilson got a touch on it.
Matt Niskanen initially got credit for the goal until NHL officials gave the tally to Wilson during the second intermission.
