The Philadelphia Flyers just destroyed the New York Rangers 5-0 to conclude their 2017-18 regular season schedule.
Claude Giroux tallied his first career hat trick and 100 points on the season in the victory.

The victory also pushes Philadelphia into the third spot in the Metropolitan Division, leapfrogging the Columbus Blue Jackets and New Jersey Devils. The Flyers victory also eliminated the Florida Panthers from the playoff contention.

If the playoffs started literally right this moment (6pm), the Capitals would face the Columbus Blue Jackets in the first round of the playoffs, as the Blue Jackets now sit in the first wildcard spot in the East.
But there is one game remaining for the Devils and the Blue Jackets. New Jersey plays Washington while Columbus takes on the Nashville Predators.
Here are the remaining scenarios. I think.
- The Capitals will play the Blue Jackets if Columbus and New Jersey both lose in regulation. The Capitals will also play the Blue Jackets if they get only one point.
- The Capitals will play the Devils if both New Jersey and Columbus win. The Capitals will play the Devils if the Devils get one point.
- The Capitals will play the Flyers if only one of the two teams (Columbus and New Jersey) win.
Get it? Got it? Good.
