When’s the last time you saw the Washington Capitals score a power-play goal on the rush? With Nicklas Backstrom’s marker (his 16th this season) off an excellent pass from Evgeny Kuznetsov, you can restart the timer.

Evgeny Kuznetsov carried the load, escorting the puck all the way from neutral to the goal line, pulling two white Leafs sweaters with him. A twister pass followed, leaving the Leafs in the dust to find Nick Backstrom, who was charging the net.
Backstrom sunk it with a wrister.
There was much celebration, while Dominic Moore left the penalty box looking sheepish.
Earlier in the period, Kuznetsov scored a goal of his own. Backstrom has a point on all three Caps goals, making this his fifth 3-point game of the season already. And the Caps lead the Leafs 3-1 going into intermission.
