Friday afternoon was supposed to be a rare opportunity for friends and family of Capitals players to skate outdoors on the newly constructed rink at Navy–Marine Corps Memorial Stadium. Instead, a powerful wind storm forced the cancellation of activities in Annapolis, forcing the team to improvise.
The Capitals hosted the family skate at their practice facility, Kettler Capitals Iceplex.

1.) Jay Beagle is a faceoff specialist and now he’s teaching his two sons his savant skill. Sure, family faceoffs are fun, but when they feature your two tiny sons, they’re priceless.
2.) Brooks Orpik took the ice with his adorable daughter Brooklyn, who was made even more adorable by her rosy cheeks.
3.) For the third time this season, Evgeny Kuznetsov morphed into Kuzy The Goalie and showed off a ridiculous skate save.
4.) Tom Wilson is not a papa yet, but Harlow Orpik is showing him the ropes of how to be a good uncle. Go, Tom! Go! Pull faster. Pull faster!
5.) Jakub Vrana and his sister Jana enjoyed their bonding moment.
6.) Nicklas Backstrom and TJ Oshie combined to push Haley Backstrom and Lyla Oshie around using the net as a balancing tool. Oh no. My heart is melting.
7.) John Carlson worked with son Lucca on his burgeoning slap shot.
8.) We’ve got an unidentifiable baby nailing one timers in the paint.
9.) Leni Oshie is running in her Caps jersey, and geez, that little nugget is adorbs.
10.) Finally, Matt Niskanen and son have fun hitting the boards with their sticks.
