ANNAPOLIS — Heavy winds created havoc along east coast on Friday, leaving hundreds of thousands without power in the Washington, DC region, the federal government shut down, and Amtrak service suspended along the Northeast Corridor. It has thrown plans for Stadium Series game here between the Washington Capitals and Toronto Maple Leafs to the wind. The NHL says it will provide an update at 1:30 pm Saturday on whether the game, scheduled for 8 pm that night, will go ahead as planned.
On Thursday, the NHL cancelled all on-ice activity scheduled for the following day, which was supposed to include practices for the two teams. By Friday afternoon, both teams had cancelled their morning skates.
#Caps will not hold a morning skate on Saturday. Players will be available at 11:30 am in the Caps locker room at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium

“It’s the same for both teams,” Capitals head coach Barry Trotz said Thursday. “It’s an equal playing field. It’d be nice to get out there once.”
As it turns out, both teams will be forced to get their first look at the ice during pregame warmups… hopefully.
