Alex Ovechkin is just like you except he’s really good at hockey. Ovi shows up to his office at 7pm every night and puts in work.
Like clockwork, Ovechkin ambles over to his cubicle — the right face-off dot — and blasts TPS reports one-timers into the net on the power-play. The Russian machine has scored 224 power-play goals in his career, ranking him 10th all-time according to Hockey Reference.
Caps play-by-play announcer Joe Beninati has made many references about Ovechkin scoring from his office, and this week, NBC Sports Washington took that metaphor to the next level.
would binge watch Alex Ovechkin on @theofficenbc tbh 😂 #600vi pic.twitter.com/SC9GK3FvC3

NBC Sports Washington put Ovechkin’s goals to The Office theme.
After setting the scene with imagery of F Street and Capital One Arena, Ovechkin is shown walking into the Capitals locker room. Like introducing the real-life character in a TV show, The Great 8’s name, Alexander Ovechkin, flashes on the screen by his face. And then it’s one-timer goal after one-timer goal from the right circle.
This is very satisfying. Great work, NBCSWSH.
