This was such a boring day in the world of hockey. Nothing happened at all. Nope, not a single thing. Luckily the Capitals have a game tonight against the Columbus Blue Jackets to occupy our minds from all this boredom (sorry if you can’t sense the sarcasm, it was a busy Trade Deadline palooza day)!
Tonight will be the debut of the new Blue Jacket and ex-Capital, Taylor Chorney, so it’s going to be real awkward when he scores a hat trick. Columbus will be looking for a win this evening to help them climb the tricky Metropolitan Division and get out of the super hot race for the second wild-card spot. The Blue Jackets are only two points ahead of the Islanders.
Game’s at 7 PM on NBC Sports Washington. Peter will have, what I can personally guarantee is, a perfect recap.

Projected Lines
The good boys had an optional skate today and as Isabelle eloquently put it, “The usual suspects aren’t on the ice”. AKA Jakub Vrana is benched, but Holts is in:
Ovechkin – Backstrom – Wilson
Connolly – Kuznetsov – Oshie
Stephenson – Eller – Burakovsky
Chiasson – Beagle – DSP
Orlov – Niskanen
Djoos – Carlson
Orpik – Kempny
Holtby
Something Fun!
Happy Monday, Everyone!
The Caps are 3-0 vs. BOS this year, but 1-1-1 vs. TBL, 1-2 vs. PIT, 1-1 vs. TOR, 0-2 vs. VGK, 0-0-1 vs. WPG, 0-1 vs. NSH. In other words, they don’t have a winning record against any of the “contenders” other than the Bruins. Hard to seriously consider them one, then, isn’t it?

Storylines
- Dmitry Orlov and Alex Ovechkin congratulated the Russian team (but not technically Russian team, but definitely Russian team…) on their Olympic gold-medal win.
- Snapshot time! Numero seven is live from your boy, Pat Holden.
- Need a big list of all the trades happening today?! Look no further, we have a big ol’ thread you can follow.
- If I love anything in the whole world, it’s when goalies are really mad after Alex Ovechkin makes a goal from his spot.
- The hockey team from Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School claimed the state title 11 days after the shooting that took place at their school. These kids know how to rally and they all rule.
- Everyone that knows me knows that baby Jay Beagle is most likely my favorite hockey baby. Baby Brandt took to the ice after practice yesterday and I hope you can all handle the cute content because I could not.
- The trade deadline was an extremely exciting time to be a twitter user….but the Capitals decided to not make any money moves (sorry).
- TJ Oshie had a call from his kids and naturally he thought he was being traded. God bless him.
- Last game, the Caps faced off against the Buffalo and kicked their bums. If you need a quick lil’ reminder, just peruse through the recap.
