The Capitals had an awesome comeback on Sunday only to tie it up and lose in overtime to the Detroit Mike Gree- I mean, Red Wings. Twitter exploded, everyone was dramatic, but we’re all over it now (and if you’re not…you should be). Time for the Capitals to focus on the very good Winnipeg Jets they have to play tonight. The game marks the beginning of their four-game, week-long road trip.
Even with the healthy scratch of Jakub Vrana, hopefully the Capitals can snag a road WIN in WINNIPEG (sorry) to start their trip on a high note.
The game starts at 8 PM. Just an extra hour and enough time to throw you off a lil’. I’m an old lady so the possibility of me passing out early is high, but Sir Pete will have your recap.

Girls Rule
I hope you’ve all been watching the Olympic Games, but not just any games. The USA Women’s Hockey Team games and not just for the familiar sounds of John Walton…but because I shouldn’t have to convince you to watch them. They’re great.
This morning, the USA Women defeated OAR (not the band, the Olympic Athletes from Russia) 5-0. This also included the two goals that Jocelyne Lamoureux-Davidson scored in six seconds. Read that one more time. TWO GOALS IN SIX SECONDS. You can read the full recap of the game on usahockey.com, but for now…here’s the third USA goal from Lamoureaux-Davidson that I will have playing on a loop and projected on my gravestone:
And as quick as that it’s 3-0 after an amazing goal from Jocelyne Lamoureux-Davidson. pic.twitter.com/Lwz187vYQx

Storylines
- “Thanks, Bettman” -A sarcastic Alex Ovechkin. Also me.
- Girls are magic! This 8-year-old nails it when it became her time to shine during the Mites on Ice game.
- Innnn case you missed it, we get five more years of that sweet dynamo Dane named Lars Eller.
- Did you see Mirai Nagasu absolutely CRUSH IT at the Olympics with her triple axel? She also has a little known background in the NHL world too…
- Is Justin Williams good at almost everything? I’m gonna go ahead and say yes.
- Last night the Chicago Blackhawks lost their sixth straight game against the Arizona Coyotes 6-1. The only storyline here is that I don’t care and I’m very glad to live in a world where they are not really a concern of mine anymore.
- Would you like to be reminded of the game from Sunday? Except for the fantastic comeback I don’t either, but it might be a good idea for you to check out the morning after numbers.
- Season tickets are getting more expensive in the upper-levels (shouts to 402 love ya), but most 100 level seats ain’t gonna change.
- Mike Green isn’t even thinking about you. You have to move on. It’s the only way to find peace and truly heal.
- Wanna see the new Military Appreciation Night jerseys? You’re in luck!
Valentine’s Day
It is tomorrow. Buy something nice for your significant other. Need an idea OTHER THAN a new RMNB tee? Let me help. Here are my top five things I would personally want for Valentine’s Day, so these are probably good gifts
-
- Flowers. My personal favorite? Daisies, but I am absolutely in the minority so buy roses.
- A nice cozy blanket you can fit two people under, but just barely so that the two people have to snuggle.

- Chocolate or Candy. Anything with caramel, in my honest opinion. If you are in a fight with your valentine, get them those chalk “Sweethearts” candies that say things like “Call Me” and taste like powder.
- Go to see a movie. Paddington 2 is good. I swear, it’ll change your life.
- Dinner. Just go to dinner. Everyone likes dinner.
