Happy Sunday, friends. Hopefully it’s less rainy and cold than Saturday, and hopefully there’s a Caps win in it for you. This afternoon will be the second of three meetings between Washington and Detroit (the Caps won the first 4-3 in overtime), and it will probably be the final one with Mike Green in the lineup – unless he’s wearing a different uniform for the next one, wink wink, nudge nudge.
The game starts at 3 PM on the usual channel. I’ll be writing about it for your pleasure.

Dustin Brown is gonna miss some time for this hit on Mikhail Sergachev, who has 8 goals from the Tampa blue line.
Storylines
- Andre Burakovsky is expected to return to the active roster. In today’s snapshot, Peter (who is me, hi) points out that Andre seems to have recovered from his slump and just needs more ice time. The Washington Post has Barry Trotz’s POV on the matter.
- Lars Eller has signed a five-year extension with the Caps. He spoke about the deal on Saturday afternoon.
- Jeez, Troy Brouwer. OUCH.
- Also on the contract beat, Brian MacLellan really wants to re-sign John Carlson.
- Chris Bourque looks like Henry Cavill. Discuss.
- Tom Gulitti spoke to Braden Holtby about Hockey Is For Everyone month.
OFFICIAL: Ondrej Pavelec will be sidelined for 2-3 weeks with a sprained MCL. #NYR

Rainy Days and
PK Subban is an international treasure, and white supremacy is bone-deep in hockey, even in Sidney Crosby’s hometown.
Those tweets from Teubert (24 games played for the Oilers in 2011-2012) comes in reaction to statements by Montreal’s Brendan Gallagher. You can read some background and perspective on The Athletic.
Teubert and Subban were teammates on Canada at 2009 WJC. Open secret that many of his teammates referred to Subban as “Monday” as in, no one likes Mondays https://t.co/c3I3pgAvlJ
