After being named to the Team USA roster at the start of the new year, Hershey Bears forward Chris Bourque received a warm sendoff from the organization ahead of his departure for the 2018 Winter Olympics.
This comes days after the Capitals ran an emotional Olympic sendoff video for radio announcer John Walton.
During Sunday’s game against the Charlotte Checkers, the Bears unveiled a large sign reading “Good Luck Chris” as fans assisted in passing an oversized American flag through the stands to wish Bourque luck as he played in his last game before departing for PyeongChang.
“The Hershey Bears are proud to have you representing Team USA and hope you bring back a gold medal from the 2018 Winter Games,” the Giant Center’s PA announcer said.
Bourque currently leads the league in points, and the Bears will surely feel the loss of his production during his Olympic sojourn. With just one win in their last 11 games, the team has been struggling mightily as of late and sit in last place of the Atlantic Division.
Bourque and Team USA will kick off their quest for Olympic gold on February 14th versus Slovenia.
