Caps vs Flyers pregame: Philly overload

The Capitals are home in DC tonight to face the Flyers. The Capitals are still sitting on top of the Metro division (*side-eye to the Pittsburgh Penguins*) and are counting themselves lucky that Evgeny Kuznetsov is alright to play after a tiny injury last week.

The Flyers haven’t been doing terribly. They’ve won eight of their last 10 games, and they’ve scored four goals or more in half of those victories.

You know, I’m getting real tired of the city of Philadelphia. The Super Bowl is almost here and then there is one more hockey game in March. We’re almost done. The game starts at 8:00 PM. Pat Holden will have a bedtime story for you in the form of a recap.

    Record 24-17-8 29-15-5
    Shot Attempt % 49.5% 48.3%
    PDO 100.0 101.5
    Power Play 20.7% 20.0%
    Penalty Kill 75.3% 80.2%

    Projected Lines

Well, I’m sure you heard the news already, but Barry has decided to bench Jakub Vrana. Maybe he’s experimenting, or maybe he likes to watch twitter burn. Who knows?

    Ovechkin – Kuznetsov – Wilson
    Burakovsky – Backstrom – Oshie
    Stephenson – Eller – Connolly
    Chiasson – Beagle – DSP

    Djoos – Carlson
    Orlov – Niskanen
    Orpik – Bowey

    Holtby

    Kirk Cousins

Okay, I promised myself I would chill out about the professional football team in Washington DC that I will not name out of pure absolute fury. But, NFL insider Adam Schefter spotted him in line at Shake Shack outside Radio Row for the Super Bowl today. I just hope everyone was nice to him because this Washington city sure as hell wasn’t.

    • Incoming: German Zamboni alert.
    • Mike Green bought a house in Washington, DC over the summer. Just in case you needed to add another log to the #Green2DC rumor fire.
    • The Capitals are going to celebrate Hockey is for Everyone month with the return of a very important guest….
    • During the All-Star Game, Brian Boyle was scared to follow Hilary Knight‘s act. Which he absolutely should’ve been because she is dynamite.
    • Evgeny Kuznetsov…he seems to be claiming the trainers are magicians after they healed him so quickly. This means only one thing. We gotta burn ’em at the stake.
    •  “Holy Jesus, are we in a hockey game or is this like a pool party out there?” -Alex Ovechkin. Also what I would like on my gravestone.
    • Here’s something kinda weird. Mike Fisher is returning to the Nashville Predators lineup after announcing his retirement.
    • There are two absolute truths when it comes to Axel Jonsson-Fjällby. One, I will never be able to say his name. Two, he’s not terrible at scoring.
    • The Hockey-N-Heels event last night had an extra special guest: four-time Olympic medalist Jenny Potter!
