When you think offense: you think Alex Ovechkin. When you think the perfect setup man: you think Nicklas Backstrom. When you think a crucial defensive zone face-off with under a minute left: you think Jay Beagle.
All three of these Caps players combined their powers to win right at the buzzer. It was unbelievable.

Jay Beagle, who hasn’t scored a goal in fifteen games, won the game with 1.3 seconds left.
First Beagle won a face-off to the right of Philipp Grubauer with 16.6 seconds remaining. After John Carlson skated around the net, he sent a breakout pass to Alex Ovechkin. The Russian machine skated the puck up the ice and went on one final rush. As Ovi deked and attempted to make a move to the middle of the ice, he lost the puck.
That turned out to be the chaos the Caps needed to win.
Nicklas Backstrom lift-checked Brock McGinn to get to the loose puck first and sent a centering pass to Jay Beagle, set up in the crease.
Beagle managed to get his blade on the puck right before Cam Ward’s out-stretched glove could. Beaglepushed it in on his backhand.
The Caps went wild.
“Obviously Backy makes an incredible play there,” Beagle said after the game. “Stick lift and then throws it across. I’m just crashing the net eyes closed and it hits my stick. There you go.”
“20 seconds left, I live for those draws,” Beagle continued.
Beagle won 73% of his face-offs (11 of 15) on the night.
