With the Caps and Canes playing a back-to-back home and home, Braden Holtby served as Philipp Grubauer’s backup at PNC Arena, Friday.
Unfortunately, due to Carolina’s benches not being wide enough, Holtby was unable to sit with his teammates.
Fortunately, it did yield this GIF.

Imagine sitting by yourself in a corner for 140 minutes. Sure, watching hockey from that close is fun, but that’s Holtby’s job for a living so it can’t be that fun. What could he be thinking about to pass all the time?
Maybe:
- “Why is the Caps media obsessed with this Tiger nickname?”
- “I wonder if I put Justin Williams under all this chest padding we can sneak him out of here?”
- “Why do we drive on parkways but park on driveways?”
- “Isn’t it weird that even though I’m sitting still that the earth is actually in constant motion so technically I’m not sitting still?”
- “You know………………Kyrie might have a point with this whole ~flat earth thing.”
For the record, Holtby really knows how to rock his backup tendy gear better than Grubi.
