After starting his NHL career using CCM gear, Alex Ovechkin officially reunited with the CCM family in October. The long-term partnership mean Ovechkin will exclusively train and play in CCM equipment for the foreseeable future and also do marketing for the company in North America and abroad.
On Monday, CCM visited Oveckin for practice at Kettler Capitals Iceplex to record a new commercial.

The hockey equipment brand documented the day on their Snapchat.

The video starts with Ovechkin getting out of his car.
“Let’s do this, CCM, today,” Ovechkin says as he walks towards the building.
The next snaps came through the glass during the Capitals practice. Afterwards, Ovechkin went on a fresh sheet of ice for CCM’s latest ad. The clips feature the Russian superstar coming to a stop after skating towards the camera and giving the best smile he could muster.
Ovechkin then put on some on a GoPro and recorded himself skating, stickhandling, and shooting.

The shoot could potentially be for a series called Made of Hockey that CCM has recorded with other star athletes that they outfit. Matt Duchene, Sidney Crosby, and Connor McDavid have all been featured and the videos include on and off-ice footage, as well as a vocal overlay.
CCM also produces more dramatic commercials featuring their star athletes. Some of the footage shot with Ovechkin today could be edited into a updated version of this spot.
1/9 Update: Alex Ovechkin’s agent David Abrutyn has given us an update about Monday’s shoot.
“Yesterday’s, two-hour production with CCM was a content session for a number of their marketing, digital and social media initiatives,” Abrutyn said in a message. “We are working with them on another four-hour production day soon where more dedicated Ovi content as well as additional general marketing and digital content will be captured.”
