Two seconds into the Sharks-Leafs game Thursday night, Nazem Kadri showed off his potential as a future beautician when he gave future Hall of Famer Joe Thornton an unplanned makeover.
The two star players got in an angry bout at center ice after exchanging slashes with each other during the opening faceoff.
During the fight, Kadri ripped part of Thornton’s iconic, jumbo-size beard literally off his face.
Wow they are really mad.
And oh my god, yes, that really happened.
The wad of beard hair eventually made its way to the Sharks bench where it landed in Aaron Dell’s catching glove for some reason. Of course the training staff had to take a picture because this needs to be on the internet.

After the game, Sharks trainers put Thornton’s beard hair in a baggy and kept it safe. It’s either going in the Hockey Hall of Fame or in a safe so they can later take Thornton’s DNA and create an army of superstar hockey players.
So what happened to that clump of Thornton’s beard? Preserved by the @SanJoseSharks training staff!

The Sharks lost to the Leafs 3-2 after Tyler Bozak scored in the sixth round of the shootout. But all anyone could talk about after the game was the beard incident.

Same.
“I’ve been coaching 25 years, and I haven’t seen a clump of beard on the ice before”
