The Capitals played a dominant game against the New Jersey Devils Saturday night. With three defenseman scoring goals, including two amazing tic-tac-toe plays, the Capitals at times looked like Harlem Globetrotters.
In the third period, Matt Niskanen gave the Capitals a friendly 4-1 lead, but the Capitals had six skaters on the ice when the goal was scored. Oops!
The too many men was pointed out after the game by Alan May and Rob Carlin. Although the extra man had no affect on the goal being scored, seeing six Capitals in the offensive zone at one time is a funny sight.
None of the referees noticed the Capitals infraction, and the Devils could have only challenged for offsides or goaltender interference.
The question is, which player missed out on having a + next to their name?
