On the first day back from the NHL’s holiday break, Capitals defenseman Christian Djoos received one final Christmas present.
Late in the third period of a tied 0-0 game, Rangers forward Pavel Buchnevich had his shot get deflected by John Carlson and strike Djoos in the face.
Ouch.
Djoos fell to the ice in pain, only to get up immediately and skate to the locker room. Blood could be seen trickling down his right cheek.
Djoos returned for overtime with his cheek stitched up.
