Down the street from the Capitals game, the New York Rangers went to a shootout with the Dallas Stars where things got a bit interesting.
Alexander Radulov forgot ice is slippery.
Radulov, who tried to turn during his shootout approach, ended up toe-picking the ice and falling to his knees. The blooper got a loud reaction from the Madison Square Garden Crowd, but also threw Rangers goaltender Ondřej Pavelec off.
Radulov went five-hole with his shot.
“It was all part of the plan,” Stars play-by-play announcer Daryl Reaugh said.
Radulov’s goal tied the shootout, which was won off a backhand shot from Stars forward Jason Spezza.
After pounding the net with 45 shots but only scoring one goal, the Stars walked away with two points after the shootout victory and broke a three-game losing skid.
