Late in the second period, Joe Thornton knocked TJ Oshie out of the game after checking the Capitals forward in the head with his buttocks.
Tom Wilson did not like this very much so he demanded Thornton answer the bell early in the third period. The potential Hall of Famer obliged and the two fought. I’m serious.
The fight did not last very long, but I was screaming at my TV.

Wilson stalked Jumbo up the ice and after apparently making a good case, Thornton agreed to a duel. I love how gentlemanly they removed their helmets.
After circling several times, the face punching commenced. Wilson and Thornton grabbed each other’s jerseys. Thornton landed four soft punches before Wilson got his right hand free and the fight was quickly over. WHAM.
Here’s another look.
Peter DeBoer and Lane Lambert exchanged fudge recipes from their respective benches because apparently the Sharks head coach didn’t like Wilson fighting one of the biggest legends in the league.
Each player got seven minutes in penalty minutes: five minutes for fighting and two minutes for unsportsmanlike conduct (taking their helmets off).
The game devolved from there with Brooks Orpik and Timo Meier receiving matching minors for roughing. Later, Alex Chiasson fought Barclay Goodrow after the Sharks skater high-sticked John Carlson.
