Capitals forward TJ Oshie has left the game after a hit by Joe Thornton.
With 3:26 remaining in the second period, Oshie attempted a hit on Logan Couture behind the Sharks net. Oshie’s hit did not land, and Oshie lost his footing. That’s when Thornton comes in late, leading with his rear. Oshie’s head bounced off Thornton’s backside and the boards.
Oshie laid facedown on the ice until trainers helped him off. There was no penalty on the play.
Oshie missed 14 games last season due to an injury that some team members described as a concussion.
Update, 9:04 PM: Oshie is done for the night.
#Caps TJ Oshie (upper body) will not return to tonight’s game and will be re-evaluated tomorrow.
