Prior to the All-Star Game in Tampa on January 28, the NHL has opened voting for the division captain.
Each fan-voted captain will lead his division team in the three-on-three tournament. From the Capitals, you can vote for Nicklas Backstrom, Braden Holtby, Evgeny Kuznetsov, or Alex Ovechkin.
Alex Ovechkin has only been named captain of the Metropolitan All-Star team once, in 2016, but that was the year he missed the game due to a lower-body injury. Ovechkin’s absence caused him to be suspended for one game, but allowed Evgeny Kuznetsov to attend.
You can place your votes on NHL.com until January 1, 2018, but there are a maximum of 10 votes per 24 hours. Each ballot submitted will enter you to win a trip to the All-Star Weekend in Tampa.
