Andre Burakovsky undergoes successful surgery on fractured left thumb Tuesday

After missing practice on Monday and being placed on injured reserved Tuesday, the Capitals announced Andre Burakovsky has undergone surgery on a fractured left thumb.

The injury took place during Saturday’s game against the Florida Panthers. He is expected to miss six-to-eight weeks, which would set his return around Christmas.

In the morning, Burakovsky posted a photo of himself sitting a lobby, which may have been where he had the surgery done.

ARLINGTON, Va. – Washington Capitals forward Andre Burakovsky underwent a successful surgery on his fractured left thumb Tuesday. Burakovsky sustained the injury during the third period against the Florida Panthers on Oct. 21. Based on the nature of this procedure, Burakovsky is expected to miss six-to-eight weeks.
