The New Jersey Devils played the Buffalo Sabres in a Christopher Columbus Day matinee and Marcus Johansson finished up his holiday weekend with a bang. The newly-minted New Jersey forward potted two goals, his first regular-season goals with the Devils.
The Capitals dealt Johansson over the summer due to salary cap issues. Johansson has fit right in on the Devils, skating as the left wing on the second line next to 2017 first-overall pick Nico Hischier. He’s also one of the team’s alternate captains.
On Johansson’s first goal, the Swede took advantage of tough forechecking by Taylor Hall and put a backhander past Sabres goalie Chad Johnson.
This is so much fun.

Later in the period, Johansson found himself on a 2-on-1 with Jesper Bratt. Bratt put the puck right on Johansson’s stick, who fired the puck into the goal for his second of the game.
