Sunday, the Washington Capitals whittled their training camp roster down to 36 players. The very next day, Barry Trotz reformulated his lines as only three games remain in the preseason.
During practice on Monday, Trotz had the team participate in a four-man small ice scrimmage and Alex Ovechkin reminded us all why he’s one of the greatest players on earth.

Taking on the duo of Tom Wilson and John Carlson, Ovechkin needled a pass to Brett Connolly in front of the net after putting the puck between his legs and behind his body.
Ovechkin further terrorized Wilson by passing the puck off the back of the net to himself.
This is ridiculous.
NBC Sports Washington’s Tarik El-Bashir also captured a battle between Nathan Walker and Alex Chiasson, who are both fighting it out for one of the team’s final roster spots.
