Braden Holtby had a beard and then he didn’t. Caps Twitter couldn’t handle it.

Braden Holtby is nicknamed the Holtbeast because of his fiery demeanor and gratuitous facial hair. But Monday, Holtby went through a transformation that was jarring for most Caps fans.

Monday morning at Kettler Capitals Iceplex, Holtby sported his normal beard while meeting Nationals second baseman Daniel Murphy and his three-year-old son Noah.

But when Holtby was pulled after 29 minutes and 50 seconds of ice time during the Caps first preseason game of the year, he was completely clean shaven.

He had several good expressions that I had to GIF.

Without the beard, the 28-year-old Holtby looked younger than the 21-year-old Vitek Vanecek.

Caps Twitter could not handle it.
